but they cant take what i still believe
katie let herself into the all time low tour bus, yawning. she wouldn't be surprised if jack showed up to demand how she got in, when, why, blech. besides. she hadn't felt like texting him to tell him she was coming, just to solve her boredom crisis. jaaaack. come out come out wherever you are. she called, seating herself on the sofa.
if zack or rian came she;d bee surprised. she didn't see them much. mostly alex and jack. she cupped her hands behind her head, closing her eyes a minute. she smiled to herself, hearing her phone go off she rolled her eyes and turned it off. the sofa wad comfy. she envied them. [/blockquote]

jack heard himself summoned... and he wasn't too sure what to think of it at first. usually, the only time he got called to attention at a time like this, by a voice like that? well, it was typically after a night spent getting his under-aged self wasted, and eventually dragging home a decently easy chick. but something about that voice nudged him to roll out of bed, put down his beloved iphone, and take a look at who was in the proclaimed 'living area' of the bus. jack had his doubts and his downfalls with that idea, though. the number one reason he was hesitant to check on the stranger? he was lazy. the boy had been lounging around in his bunk for a while, totally awake, with the ends of his hair a little splayed from a recent shower. still.... he just couldn't totally bring himself to roll out of bed again.
besides, what if this wasn't even his girl? sure, she had called his name... but some people got him confused for alex. ..... sometimes. maybe this wasn't his hot mess to pick up. maybe this was gaskarth or merrick's load to clean up! with high hopes, jack inched his head off the sunken pillow - listening for signs of survival among the bunks around and above his.
no such luck.
a string of curses ran through jack's head, and he sighed heavily. he was the only one here. he was stuck with this. he eased himself off the bed with his elbows; careful not to hit his blonde-and-brunette head on the bed above his as he did so. ( you'd be surprised how many times that happened. ) his bare feet shuffled lethargically across the floor; jack purposely moving no faster than a sloth. atleast, not until he realized that he knew that voice. a surprising smile crossed his face and his dark eyes lit up at the audio recognition. it took him long enough.
it was only katie. how many other people would actually be happy to see her, sprawled over their couch? jack didn't bother to ponder. he knew that she was welcome company, and her presence was much more appreciated than some brainless blonde tramp. he sank down in the empty spot next to her, offering a slight grin before he spoke - attempting desperately to keep a straight face.
"one of these days," he began, nudging her slightly to catch her attention, "you're gonna pop in here, and walk in on some huge underwear party." he chided, struggling to keep his soft laughter quiet. "then you'll be blind, and out of a job. luckily for you," he paused to gesture to his fully-clothed, comfortable self, "i decided to get dressed today." he finished, seemingly content with his 'regal and reformed' response. his wild smile ruined it, though, so he just dropped the sophisticated talk completely. it wasn't him anyway.
"what brings you to my neck of the woods?" jack chuckled, turning slightly to face her. notes; this is like, cringe-worthy. sorry. :c outfit; you'll know if you click here. listening to; weightless, all time low.

katie shook her head, making a disapproving tsk tsk sound with her tongue. god damn jack, you move like a sloth. she said. it wasn't harsh. she was always saying something like that, but they didnt really mean much. she took up almost the whole couch, quite comfy and not wanting to move, but reluctantly scooted a couple inches so he could fit.
if i walked in on an underwear party, she paused to roll her eyes at his absurd idea, then i would be bind and uncapable of boosting your popularty. she said it like he had just said he didnt know 1+1. she hoped he did. she knew he did. they'd gone to the same school together but, still, she worried about him sometimes. like when he broke his nose last year.
are you sure its yours? she glanced around. i see bunks for gaskarth, merrick, and dawson. she shook her head. katie knew him too well. she looked hurt. what, did you think i was that ditzy blonde from last night? she hadn't been with him, but she was sure somewhere he was out getting wasted with some ditzy blonde at the bar with some other random guys following the tour. upon katie's remark, jack had to roll his eyes himself. "i'm really happy to see you too, katie." he said in response to her blunt animal-comparison of a greeting. his reply was cheery and obviously over-the-top; purposely trying to convey his slight disappointment. still, he should have expected that. and hell, why not up his own game, while they were at it?
he couldn't help but snicker at her tone, even slightly. most people would probably turn their heads. jack was just.... used to it. he mulled over her explanation, though it was almost exactly the same as the reason he'd just given her before. "on second thought," he mused, "i think you'd kinda like it. i know you always had a thing for guys in briefs." he sneered with a small shrug of the shoulders.
he sighed at katie's technicality regarding the bus situation. "don't shake your head at me," he chided, pouting his lips in disapproval. she'd gotten a lot more sassy since their last meeting, huh? he didn't mind. it just gave him a chance to practice being snippy as well... because ( obviously ), he was really no good. "i know you know what i meant, but for your sake, i'll rephrase. what brings you to the bus belonging to all time low?" he barely had time to restate his inquiry before she answered.
"i wouldn't really be surprised if you were some random girl." he admit solemnly - a rare tone for jack in his entirety. atleast he was truthful. "that always happens on tour." he muttered. she would know, of all people - writing those blogs and all. "if it makes you feel any more special, i'm glad it's you here, instead of a whore." jack was tempted to throw in some snarky quip about 'there not being much difference between katie and whore,' but his answer actually had been sincere. he didn't see her much anymore, and that whole attitude thing was just that: her thing.

katie flicked her fingers on the side of his head in response. it was something shed grown used to over the years. and the flicks just got harder. his head was hard, right? she rolled her eyes at his snicker. jacky, she said sweetly. if i had a thing for guys in briefs, i'd be falling all over you now. she said truthfully. it wasnt rare she walked in seeing jack nd his hyperness...she was too used to it, truthfully.
well i came because you just seemed to sad and boring and lonely, and you needed my wonderful company to make you feel better. she said brightly, smiling. she thought of a quick comeback. she frowned. but i'm not a random girl. we knew each other forever. she said, shrugging. she gave up counting on her fingers how long they'd known each other. she ignored his remark about touring. of course it makes me feel special. jack barakitty loves me more than whore. she said dryly.
she knew he was probably tempted to say she was a whore. but no she wasn't. she wasn't some sleeper who hit on random guys. she actually cared about her reputation. [/blockquote]

jack whimpered faintly with the contact of her "painful" infliction. her trademark punishment for his stupidity reminded him of a misbehaving cat and a squirt bottle. that thought alone rose a random, youthful giggle, and it amplified at the sound of his nickname. "mm, so what's holding you back?" he asked, obviously enjoying the banter. "it must be tough for you to be so close to me, huh? temptation... tempting you to... be.. tempted.." um... atleast he tried; whether it made sense or not was an after-thought of his.
he dropped his juvenile facade though when she mentioned her reason for showing up. he raised an eyebrow; the gesture disappearing beneath his multi-colored hairline instantaneously. "sad? lonely?" he repeated, clear confusion stamped across his face. "what makes you think that?" hell, jack thought he had been having a good time. still, he wanted to hear her opinion. sometimes katie knew him better than alex or rian - and it was refreshing to get a girl's perspective. most of the time. he obviously missed her smile, which led him to believe she was completely serious. oh jack.
her dry response, though, teased a smile from his lips. "see? being around me is an instant confidence slash ego boost." jack shrugged, showing no shame in his response. "next time you're down in the dumps, little miss grumpy gills, come say hi again. it's not like you pay attention to me anymore." he sniffled; struggling once again to keep a straight face. she just had to know he was teasing. there was a rare time when he wasn't, afterall.

katie rolled her eyes, mostly at his giggle. it reminded her of a little schoolboy who just got caught doing something he wasnt supposed to be doing. sometimes people had asked her why she didnt go out with him. she just didnt really ever think of it. it was too awkward for one, and two theyalready saw each other often. but less on the tour.
well for one, you never get out of that stupid bunk of yours and go out. its like youd see the light for the first time of day. this was the teasing part. but secondly she was serious now but didnt show it, i... she dropped her voice slightly and glanced around. she normally did this, mostly because she was used to it. i never see your name in the headlines. you never get caught for any shitty things you do. she said, rolling her eyes.
katie rolled her eyes, glancing away as he said something about...ego boost? the second he sniffled, she knew he wasnt serious. she almost never took him seriously. she flicked him again, this time on the shoulder and harder. a teasing smile played on her lips. are you saying katie j is very grumpy? she asked, looking amused. she had trouble thinking of when she was grumpy, but hey, sometimes her jacky just knew her better than others. whether she blogged about him or not. she'd be surprised if he even cared. well, cared to get a mob on her, anyway. [/blockquote] ( eh, its ok. but i woke up literally minutes ago... )

jack snorted at the reason of her concern. seriously? was that what she was worried about? another laugh shook his tall frame for a moment as he absorbed the idea. "if it's bothering you that much, than i suppose i can go out and get wasted. but after that, i'm lost." jack shrugged, scratching his two-toned head conservatively. "jackie's been a good boy lately." he said, although that was far from the truth. he'd just been trouble-making behind closed doors.
"and you're not exactly grumpy," he muttered, rubbing the stinging spot on his shoulder. "just.... easily irked." he nodded, agreeing with himself, and his cautious choice of words. "it's not a bad thing. guys usually like fiesty girls." he simpered, offering a crooked grin at his own childish demise. "but enough talking about you." he smirked. "what would land my smilin' face on the cover of magazines?" because, come to think of it, it had been a while since the crowd got a jack update. and who was he to deny them?

katie rolled her eyes. she smiled slightly. why would you? but if you did, i'd be glad to know youd go out with some random girl all because of me. her tone was teasing. she was used to jack, it was weird seeing him be famous. at first they were in school together when he was in high school. she was always surprised whenever she saw him on tour or at a concert.
when he said hed been good, it was her turn to snort. sure. what good things have you done lately? posted more weird videos on youtube? went out the other night? had a one night stand? she smirked at the last part. so far she hadnt heard that he did have one, but shed wouldnt be surprised if he did. or if he didnt, actually. wouldnt that just make him a player? she never thought of him as one. but tour changed things sometimes. jack shrugged his shoulders slightly. "asking why i would go out is like asking why a fish needs, like, water or something." he attempted to explain; failing to make sense to even himself. he sighed. "i'm bored, and i wanna have fun! i'm jack barakat, and i can do that." he pointed out matter-of-factly.
she seemed too surprised when he admit to behaving himself. he raised an eyebrow. "shocked to hear that i'm being slightly productive?" he wasn't offended or anything like that by any means. god no. he could barely believe it himself. "we just finished recording the new record, and i'm doing a clothing line." he pointed out blandly, folding his long arms behind his head with satisfaction. recalling his feats out loud filled him with a swell of pride, oddly enough. "and actually, no, i haven't had any one-night-stands lately." he replied; still far from offended. he was still in disbelief of that fact, too. then his romping chatter caught up to him, and he narrowed his eyes at her.
"why? have gone out and won the nobel peace prize, or something, and i just didn't notice?" he inquired. it wasn't entirely far-fetched. jack certainly didn't watch the news.

katie laughed slightly. that doesnt even make sense. she said, rolling her eyes. actually, your jack barakitty. she said. shed thought of it back in high school and stuck to it. she closed her eyes, deciding to lean on him as a backrest. she didnt even weigh much.
katie looked amused. to her it was almost like he was bragging. not quite, but almost. you havent had any on night stands lately... but have you had any? katie asked. she was serious, and didnt feel like blogging it. she just felt like asking, she wasnt even sure hed tell her the answer. no matter how close they were.
katie made a face. what about nobel prizes? she asked, confused. she knew he didnt watch news much, but she was always keeping an eye on it. [/blockquote]

yeah. he knew he didn't make sense. most of the time, he was just babbling out his first instinct. thus, jack was either perceived as really down-to-earth and realistic.... or just, kinda of stupid. either way, her reaction and tiny laugh made him smile, as did his nickname. "do you know how many kids claim they were the first to think of barakitty?" he mumbled quietly, adjusting slightly to offer her more cushion as katie's proclaimed pillow. "then i have to tell them they're wrong, and they get all huffy." true story. he sighed contently. "pretty sure that alex tried to convince me he made it up once, too."
her question about his intimate endeavors was long expected. jack thought about it for a minute - trying to recall when his last outing had been, and, come to think of it, the memory was a little foggy. but not too recent. "mm, i'lllll say that it was somewhat soon... ish. a night or two before tour, since i know you just totalllly care about the details," he chuckled. "but i swear, that was the last time in a while." to jack, thought it never happened. if you can't remember it, you just hope it goes away, and pray that a video doesn't surface/ not that jack, personally, would care.
"nobel pr- ... oh. well, you didn't believe that i was up to anything good, so i'd tried to make you seem hypocritical." fail, jack. he sighed. "i can never win around you, can i?" he pried, nudging her again slightly before letting his head tilt to the side, resting on top of hers briefly. "that's fine by me. how's life? i hope more exciting than mine."

katie looked amused. then who did come up with it first? she asked, a smile forming on her lips again. she was surprise he moved slightly, just to make it comfier. but then again, friends were friends. werent they supposed to do things for each other? sheshrugged slightly, thinking. sometimes she was so tempted to braid jack's hair.
katie looked amused. well nice job then. she said, hiding a grin slightly. it was typical of jack to think shed press for details. he was right, too. she wouldve asked if he hadnt mentioned, actually. now...how long is a while? apparently he forgot that detail. but she wanted to no. sometime needed.
nobel prize? she asked, then zoning in. oh, well. she said, failing to think of anything to say, brilliant katie, pure brilliance. she smiled slightly. who can win around me? i either like what i hear and stick it up on the internet...or i'm unimpressed. you fail. she said. shed think hed heard that enough, because it seemed she was always explaining it to someone.
my life is ok. she said, shrugging, she couldnt think of much to say to that. her life mightve been just as boring as his. she turned to glare at him. hey, [your the one at tour. she said, jabbing a finger into his chest. not hard, but enough to feel it. but only slightly. [/blockquote]

"you came up with it," jack sing-songed; bobbing his head slightly as a silly grin appeared on his features. he was only so giddy because he was reminded of high school and the good times he'd had, although graduation hasn't reall been all that long ago. "duhh."
once the one night stand issue was brought back up, a frumpy pout crossed him. "a while means that i'm not going to tell you the real day, because a.) i don't completely remember it myself, and b.) i'm trying to cut back on the whole issue." or... sort of, anyway. "kicking the habit of manwhoring. and, step one, apparently, is to just forget about the error of my old waayss," jack mused sleepily, laughing at himself slightly. yeah. we'll see how long that lasts.
jack looked indifferent with her explanation. he got it figured out in his own little mind, and that was enough for him. "kate's way or the highway?" his tone suggested he was slightly unsure, but that's how he thought of it. he just wanted to know the way her mind worked, and he questioned so hesitantly - nervously tugging on his gray v-neck collar in wait.
his confusion increased. "just okay?" jack reiterated, a dark eyebrow inclined. "hey. tour isn't all that great," he chided her, narrowing his eyes at her prodding finger as she poked and glared at him. "i'd rather be back in maryland. do you know how much of a day gets wasted on the damn bus?" he shook his head. no wonder why she hadn't heard much about him lately. he, apparently, was "cooped up" in the bus. poor boy was demanding sympathy he really didn't deserve. but they cant take what i still believe
katie paused thinking, before a smile lit up her face again. oh yeah! now she remembered. they were just fooling around in high school when she suddenly caleld him barakitty. she loved playing with words, maybe that was why she was a journalist. she was pretty good at it, too, if she did say so herself.
katie stared at him oddly. forge the error of your old ways? she asked, grimacing as she rolled onto her side and got jabbed with the pen in her pocket. she pulled it out, writing something on her hand that might remind her to write later, just to use some more words. it was something she started to do daily.
katie rolled her eyes. fine. you dont understand katie's way. she said, emphasizing the katie. he always called her kate, she didnt mind it, but she always felt the need to correct him.
katie laughed slightly. boy, do you realize how much others would kill to be in your spot? she knew he knew the answer, he might not be sure of it but he knew it. he had to know that. jack, dont make me think about it! she whined slightly. she missed maryland too. especially when they went out to fells point 30 minutes away form their houses. [/blockquote] ( xD. its so funny. i live 30 minutes away from their md hometown. )
