jack grinned at the high school anecdote - recalling the birth of the nickname plague. "not that much has changed since highschool," he muttered - in regard to the barakitty calling and one night stand issue. there was just alot more of him and alot more people who liked him. he dropped the subject though, once he heard the click of a pen.
jack raised an eyebrow yet again - leaning slightly to try and peer around her shoulder at her hand. the gesture failed and he was too slow to read whatever she had scrawled though, and he frowned. "i hope you get ink poisoning for keeping secrets." he grumbled, huffing melodramatically before rolling his eyes.
his hair-obscured vision returned to her, though, once she spoke again. "katie? sorry. don't know her." jack replied in a bored fashion - innocently shrugging all the while. he just liked kate. that was what he had thought her name was in middle school, and so he just stuck to it, so he wouldn't have to admit his mistake. it had worked so far.
"well, i mean, i guesssss being in a band is pretty rad." he muttered. oh please. he was just trying to make it so he looked in need of a pity hug. fail. "sorry," he laughed. "i was home a couple weeks ago, when alex was recording vocals. i said hi to my neighbors and stuff." the boy recalled with a youthful smile. "how did we get from timonium, to cali?" that still just blew his mind. maybe being in a band wasn't so bad afterall.
are you serious? haha, that's so cool! i'm jealoussss. [/blockquote]

but they cant take what i still believe
katie well...i guess not. katie said, shrugging as she closed her eyes slightly. she smiled as she put her pen away. she glanced to him, surprised. want to know what i wrote? she asked, changing her mind. nah. heres a cheesy copy. she twisted around slightly, scribbling meaninglessly on his hand, but only slightly. knock yourself out. she said, closing her eyes again.
when did you start calling me kate again? katie asked, her voice sounding amused and sleepy at the same time. she wasnt sure which she was, actually. she wouldnt mind getting some sleep, but she did enjoy talking to jack. she didnt get to often. hey, stop moving! she said. his shoulders shook her, she wasnt all that big.
you guessssssssssssss. katie said, laughing. he knew he didnt deserve it bug gave him a hug anyway. oh its so terrible, being so popular, the guy of every fan-girl's dreams. she teased slightly.
oh, you mean the roths? she asked, surprised. his neighbors were an old couple. she lived a few blocks away form them. timonium? cali? what about chicago? she asked, trying to sound innocent. [/blockquote]

jack sighed, sending his two-toned hair in all directions. "alright well, if you're gonna be picky, then i'll admit my voice got lower. other than that, i still think i'm the same." he admit quietly. he wasn't too keen on changes, even if they were as monumental as all time low's blow-up. he tried to be humble about all that anyway. he was distracted from his train of thought though when he felt the pen tip glide over his guitar-calloused hand. he scrunched his nose in distaste; staring down blankly. "no fair," he mumbled with a sad pout. but, knowing jack, the expression didn't last long at all.
"kate? hm. eiiighth grade, maybe?" he chuckled slightly. "yeah. that was back when we like, used to pass notes during class instead of just talk. kate was quicker to write than katie," he snickered - purposely shifting once again to nudge her yet again. "my bad," he said sarcastically.
a whole-hearted smile lit up his face as she turned to hug him slightly. "awww. aren't you just the sweetest little thing," jack teased; pinching her cheek, before returning to his relaxed pose. "and i'm not the dream. girls go for alex, and then come to me when there's too long of a line infront of him." slightly true, but you never know. "it's cool to be popular though, now that i think about it. it's not like we were that special in highschool."
when the conversation returned to maryland, he sighed. "yea. i think they like me more than my mom and dad do," he chuckled. "they invited me in and gave me some cookies, since she saw me on tv at the new year gig." ha. good times. he pulled a face though once she questioned him - his mind still focused on his friendly, elderly neighbors. "what about chicago?" h repeated - turning the question on her curiously.

katie looked surpised. seriously? she asked. she didnt know that. it was odd, but she she knew he hate changes and didnt make a big deal out of it. she loved change, but apparently he didnt. well, she only liked change when it benefited her, actually, haha...
serious?y god, that seems like so long ago katie said, sounding mystified. her phone vibrated, playing last resort. she flipped it open. oh god, another text message/ she didnt know how people got her number, but they did. some were wacky 'death threats' and others asking where she got her information. it was annoying.
katie laughed slightly. i'm obviously a sweet little girl, not harmful at all. katie said, rolling her eyes. she flinched when he pinched her. he knew she hated that, but she ever felt like poking him for it. nah, that was saved for his witty comments. like she just let pass her monitor, but, you know, whatever.
aw, not everyone goes to alex. katie said, rolling her eyes she laughed slighlty. if it helps, your just as cute. she said. she was serious but said it in a teasing tone. this time she pinched his cheeks. mostly cause she felt like it, if that counts as a reason. god no, you were the music freak. katie said. she wasnt exactly honest, cause to her he had seemed pretty coo, but, shhh! although he probably knew that-via grapevine.
katie briefly listened to him, clicking the pen's point on and off constantly. were the cookies good? she asked automatically. it took her mind a minute to catch up on what he was saying though. chicago? dont tell me you havent been there yet. but you dont like it? i mean, its in between, right? she knew she was getting confusing, but to her it made enough sense. jack narrowed his eyes at katie - brow furrowing with a fake mask of irritation. "yeah. i'm always serious. do you really think a guy like me jokes around alot?" he inquired with only a moment of sincerity to spare before his stern expression faded. and there was the classic jack half-smirk, once again prevailing.
after a quiet moment, he felt his side vibrate. a quizzical look was sent to katie, but he laughed quietly to himself as he realized it was her cell phone. he couldn't help himself. once he heard her ring-tone, he had to sing along. quite honestly, he hoped it was a phone call, and she had taken it. he failed to notice it was only a text, and he was left with his lips at the back of her ear, humming and half-singing along. "cut my life into pieces. this is my last resort. suffocation! no breathing! don't give a beeeeep if i cut my arm, bleeding." he finished along with the phone; giggling before resting his head on the couch back again. bravo. really. "but seriously. whoooo the helllll is more important than me?" he inquired, the question directed at whomever had texted her.
"you're just as harmless as a rabid possum in a trash can." jack said casually - peering at her from the corner of his eye, before adding "nothing personal." right. that really a joke, as was much of jack's other mindless banter. "i don't care if i'm cute." he attempted to shake his head and speak again, but found his own cheeks getting pinched. he sighed melodramatically - chest heaving behind his grey v-neck. "i was the first one to wear girl jeans, if that gets me any popularity points."
jack was tempted to call her out on the absent-minded pen clicks, but stopped himself. like he wouldn't be doing the same thing? please. "cookies were amazing. old people automatically rock at baked goods." it was true in jack's mind, anyway. "chicago's too cold for me." jack admit quietly. we all know it's a bad day when he can't play in his booty shorts comfortably.

but they cant take what i still believe
katie watched jack. her expression was unreadable, but her brow was slightly furrowed. she was waiting for him to crack. and he did a half-smirk. classic. that was, after all, jack barakat she was sitting with. she wondered how serious he could be. she rolled her eyes, turning away again as she thought.
katie listened to jack singing along, reading it. oh, just a reminder she had to be somewhere. she closed her phone again, but jack was still singing at her ear. then he giggled and rested his head back again. katie never met a guy who giggle until she et jack and she was still getting used to it. but that was odd. she'd known him a long time. and, eventually, met alex, rian, and zack.
and your just as silly as a tiger with a man's head in it's mouth. she said automatically. she listened to his little add on before repeating it in a bored tone. jack, me being the girl, i think i was the first to wear girl jeans, unless you want to announce that at al the concerts, then no one would believe me. katie said. she said it was true, so now that would be permanently stuck in her head.
cookies? they gave you cookies? when i went there they were in the middle of a choclate cake, prepared for their dear neighbor's arrival. katie said, smirking. really it was for their niece, but they had two and let her eat the one they were making. is chicago cold? summer? katie mused, trying to figure out how that would make sense.
but it came from jack, so it didnt, really. [/blockquote] bleh. it kinds sucks.

jack despised their relative silence, although it didn't last long. he attempted to read over her shoulder, since his head rested there momentarily anyway, but she closed her phone again. "you're not leaving me, are you?" jack questioned; a slight heir of a whimper in his voice. there was barely a time he was alone on tour, let alone any other day in his life. he wasn't going to let her leave easy - not like he ever did.
at the other tiger response, he tilted his head, completely confused. "because i don't understand why that's silly, i'm going to take it as a compliment." jack concluded aloud - just filling her in on 'necessary detail.' he sighed with deflated pride. "would it be creepy if i admit to borrowing your jeans once?" jack asked; puzzled. he couldn't totally remember if he had or not, but i wouldn't put it past him.
"cake?" jack choked out, his brown eyes opening wide. "i feel so cheated." so he wasn't as special as he thought. but that wasn't really all that important to him. "did they let you lick the spoon?" that was all he cared about. "and last year when we came to chicago in summer, it was raining. so you can shut your mouth." not that a threat from jack was intimidating. at all.
dunno where my muse ran off to. sorry :[ [/blockquote]

katie yawned, playing with her phone slightly. she felt his head as an extra weight on her shoulder, turning hr head slightly to glare at him. you're aware your shoulder is quite heavy, right? she asked. she heard him ask something in his little whimpery tone. of course not. silly little boy. she asked, reaching around to ruffle his hair slightly. she knew he almost always had attention and probably though being alone was just so terrible, even though she rather liked it. its supposed to be silly. katie said distantly, not exactly sure what she said. but she didnt have to be, right? impulsive meant without thinking. now she had something to blame on. yes yes take it as whatever. shes said, rolling her eyes. she immediately opened her eyes to glare at jack. you borrowed my jeans? she asked, first sounding mad then amused. which ones? when? high school or recently? she asked. they were more similar in size in high school, but he mightve fit, but only slightly. and yes its creepy. she finally answered. katie watched jack, thinking. yes, i got cake. and yes, she said with a smile, i got to lick the spoon. she wasnt lying. she did. but only some because then her flight for L.A was arriving and she had to rush off. if you go there again illl do a weather watch specially for you. katie said distantly, closing her eyes and yawning. hmm. were not so far away from the subject of one night stands. katie aid, sitting up more. jacks shoulder was really comfy. now that youve kissed alex in a total of what i cant remember, did you like it? katie asked, looking amused. she had seen a youtube video that had a million hits labeled Jack and Alex kiss [HQ]. she saw it too, it was pretty addicting. Se was inspired she wrote another thing on her hand just so she wouldnt forget. D: it sucks

jack glared right back at her when she turned to stare him down for his leaning. he didn’t budge for a moment, but then, as expected, shrunk back to his corner. ”i feel like you just discretely asked me to lose a few pounds,” he mumbled quietly, sticking out his lower lip before a smile took over. it was a quiet moment for a while as he waited for her to possibly confirm his suspicions. some people could hang around jack for hours, (aka alex, zach, and rian), and others could only stand him for five minutes. although they went to highschool together, he would’ve understood if she was ditching him. though, he was pretty happy when she ruffled his hair, and stayed put. ”yaaaay for kit kat,” he sing-songed – slightly unenthusiastic for someone who had silently been begging her to stay.
jack’s dark eyes flitted away from katie’s glaring ones as usual – whistling with innocence as she returned to the jean topic. he should have expected to be interrogated. ”possibly.” he smirked. that meant definitely yes, and probably more than once. ”i don’t remember which ones exactly. but they were too short a- …. well. i did it once in high school, but i’m not admitting to anything recent… because you’d hurt me.” he assumed these kinds of things. he had to think about something before he fell asleep at night, afterall. ”you’re creepy. so shut your nasty mouth. you’ve never borrowed any of my clothes? ever?” he peered at her curiously – raking a hand through his hair anxiously.
”i can’t believe they let you lick the spoon.” he shook his head, absolutely bamboozled. ”i feel betrayed… and yet, i still wanna go back.” of course he would. it’s home, for heck’s sake. ”and a weather report would be nice… but i dunno if we can trust that kind of thing. or if it matters. remember when you made fun of all time low for playing in the thunder and rain? nothin’ stops us, lady.” he smirked before picking up on her yawn. he nudged her thickly, a furrowed brow in place. ”sorry. i don’t mean to bore you or anything,” he snorted before rolling his eyes.
he raised an eyebrow at her, although they were now facing different directions. he chose to rest his back against her own, cupping his chin in his palm – elbow propped on his knee. ”alex came onto me in that video. that’s all i’m gonna say. check that video again if ya want proof.” he laughed slightly. really? ”dear honey bear, you’d have a lot more to write about if you stepped foot on our bus after we’re all wasted. though, i don’t really think you’ve got much chance of staying alive with our crew.” now that was just a challenge. a stupid, childish one, but a challenge.
