Maplebrook Academy
Maplebrook, an elegant village on the shores of puget sound just outside of Seattle, Washington. The Maplebrook Academy is one of the most famous live-in high school's for the wealthy families of the American north-east. This is not to say that those of average, or even below average income do not send there children here. But, if high school wasn't dependent enough on cliques, throw a financial ladder in the mix.
The town is no different. The parents of the Maplebrook students, their teachers, the wealthy young newlyweds, the guy who runs the harbor, all of them know what money means in a town like this. Social gatherings abound but the bars and dives are just as lively. They work together, as a small town they have no choice. The socialites don't always mingle with the fishermen but they're way ahead of the curve as far as how some people, the academy students namely, act towards eachother. They have lots of preconceived notions which are slowly but surely fading away.
Now, Maplebrook Academy itself is run by an in-crowd. Those gorgeous few whose families are in possession of large fortunes or the ones who just fell in with the right crowd. Those who seem to have perfectly carefree lives. Parties, glamor, and all that seems important to high school students. Then there's the out-crowd. Vastly outnumbering the in-crowd are the scores of those who don't quite fit in. Those who just aren't rich enough or maybe not pretty enough or peppy enough or whatever the reason. The Maplebrook Academy students know the social ladder and competition is always subtle and always artful.
The serene halls of the school and old english architecture mask the trials of life for all the students at Maplebrook Academy. Even those of the in-crowd who seem so carefree are often troubled. The distractions of social gatherings and school functions aren't always enough to keep people feeling good about themselves, I mean, as a teenager, what more do you want from life than to have fun? Grades, sex, home life, love, parties, etc... All the issues that face teens are in abundance here at Maplebrook Academy...
